Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Kabba, was established by the Kogi State Government in April, 2010 to offer programmes leading to the award of Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE). 


The mission of the College, among others, is to provide full-time courses in teaching, instruction and training in Technology, Applied Sciences, Commerce, Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, Management, Education, Vocations and to carry out research in the development and adaptation of techniques.
 

In pursuant of the above, the Governing Council of the College, in the exercise of its powers as contained in the law that established the College, has declared the following positions vacant and, therefore, wishes to fill them:
 

VACANCIES FOR THE POSTS OF REGISTRAR, BURSAR, LIBRARIAN AND DIRECTOR OF WORKS

REGISTRAR

Duties

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the College and shall be responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administration of the College. The Registrar also serves as Secretary to the Governing Council, the Academic Board and any other statutory Committee of the College. The Registrar is responsible for implementing the decisions and the policies of the College Governing Council, the Academic Board and the Management.

Qualification and Experience

  • The applicant must possess a good Honours degree in Arts, Social Sciences or Humanities not below second class lower division from a recognized institution of higher learning, plus at least 15 years cognate experience, or a Master’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning plus at least 11 years cognate experience.
  • Applicant for the post of the Registrar should currently be holding a post not lower than a Deputy Registrar or its equivalent. In addition, the candidate must have clean and impeccable records of service and demonstrate evidence of professional competence with high degree of accountability, transparency and probity. The candidate must be computer literate.

Condition and Terms of Appointment
The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the College. The Successful candidate shall be placed on CONTEDISS 15. He/she shall hold office for an initial term of five (5) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for another and final term of five (5) years subject to satisfactory performance. Other relevant benefits and allowances are as spelt out in the College Conditions of Service as approved by the Governing Council and the State Government.

BURSAR

Duties

The Bursar is the Chief Finance Officer of the College and is directly responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day management of the College finances. The Bursar shall plan, organize and co-ordinate the operations of the Bursary Department of the College in consultation with the Provost. The Bursar shall also ensure that all accounts of the College are adequately kept and expenditure undertaken with the approval of the Provost.

Qualification and Experience

  • The candidate must possess a good honours degree in Accounting or related disciplines not below second class lower division from a recognized university plus ICAN or other equivalent professional qualifications with at least 15 years post qualification cognate experience. The candidate must be registered with a recognized professional body in the Accounting profession.
  • In addition, the candidate must have clean and impeccable records of service and demonstrate evidence of professional competence with high degree of accountability, transparency and probity. The candidate must be computer literate and conversant with the application of ICT based accounting packages. Possession of a higher degree is an added advantage.
  • Candidates applying for the post must not be below the rank of Deputy Bursar.

COLLEGE LIBRARIAN

Duties

The College Librarian is responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administration and co-ordination of services of the College Library.

Qualification and Experience

  1. The candidate must possess a minimum of Master’s Degree in Library Science from a recognized university plus at least 15 years cognate experience. A Ph.D. in Library Science from a recognized university will be an added advantage.
  2. The candidate must show evidence of understanding of ICT and application of new technologies in Library Services and operations.
  3. He/she must show evidence of contribution to knowledge through research and publications in reputable journals and must be a member of Librarian’s Registration Council of Nigeria. Candidates applying for the post must not be below the rank of Deputy Librarian in their present employment or its equivalent.

The College Librarian is a Principal Officer of the College. The successful candidate shall be placed on CONTEDISS 15. He/she shall hold office for an initial term of five (5) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for another and final term of five (5) years subject to satisfactory performance. Other relevant benefits and allowances are as contained in the College Conditions of Service as approved by the Governing Council and the State Government.

DIRECTOR OF WORKS AND SERVICES

Duties
The Director of Works and Services is responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day administration and co-ordination of the Works and Services Department of the College. The successful candidate shall be responsible for the planning, controlling co-ordination and supervision of all services in the Department. He/she shall advise the Provost on the acquisition, operation and maintenance of all College assets and physical facilities.

Qualification and Experience

  1. The candidate must possess a good honours degree, not below second class lower division, from a recognized university in Structural/Mechanical/Electrical or Civil Engineering and fully registered with COREN with at least fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate experience in a project/work management.
  2. The candidate must be computer literate and conversant with the application of ICT in the operations of Works and Services Department of the College. Candidates applying for the post must not be below the rank of Deputy Director of Works in their present employment or its equivalent.
  3. Conditions and Terms of Services
  4. The Director of Works and Services is a Principal Officer of the College. The successful candidate shall be placed on COTEDISS 15. He/she shall hold office for an initial term of five (5) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for another and final term of five (5) years subject to satisfactory performance. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ACADEMIC STAFF POSITIONS

Candidates applying for teaching positions must possess professional teaching qualifications not below Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Preference will be given to candidates who have Masters Degree and above, who are members of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria and are computer literate.
 

ASSISTANT LECTURER CONPCASS 01
Candidates must possess good honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division from a recognized university with teaching qualification plus NYSC discharge certificate.
 

LECTURER III CONPCASS 02
Candidates must possess a Master Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with evidence of teaching qualification or good honours degree from a recognized university in the relevant field with at least three (3) years cognate experience plus evidence of teaching qualification.
 

LECTURER II CONPCASS 03
Candidates must possess Doctoral Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university or a Master Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university plus at least three (3) years cognate experience or good honours degree from a recognized university plus a minimum of six (6) years post qualification cognate experience. In addition, candidates for this post should have either:
Presentation of two seminar/conference papers/exhibition or one journal article published.
 

LECTURER I CONPCASS 05
Candidates must possess a Doctoral Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least three (3) years cognate experience or a Master Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least six (6) years cognate experience. 


Industrial experience and contribution to scholarly publication will be added advantage. Also eligible, are holders of good honours degree from a recognized university in the relevant field with at least nine (9) years cognate experience. 

In addition, such candidates should have at least four seminar papers or two journal articles or two seminar papers plus one journal article.
 

SENIOR LECTURER  CONPCASS 07
Candidates should be holders of Doctoral Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least six (6) years cognate experience or a Master Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least nine (9) years cognate experience.
 

In addition, candidates should have four journal articles or four seminar papers plus two journals, or two chapters in standard textbooks plus two conference/seminar papers or two chapters plus two journal articles.
 

PRINCIPAL LECTURER CONPCASS 08
  • Candidates must possess a Doctoral Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least nine (9) years of teaching/applied research in institution of higher learning and having:
  • Seven journal articles or
  • Four journal articles plus one standard text book or
  • Four seminar papers, two journal articles plus one standard text book.
  • Also eligible to apply are holders of a Master Degree from a recognized university with a minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience.
  • Candidates must also satisfy one requirement in i – iii above.

SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST CONTEDISS 07
Candidates must possess Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)/Higher National Diploma (HND) in the relevant field from a recognized institution of leaning plus NYSC discharge certificate with three (3) years cognate experience.
